TRM use a number of remedial technologies to address contamination issues in soil and groundwater.
These comprise a number of biological, physical, chemical and thermal techniques that have been specifically developed for the different matrices and contaminants.
The remediation of land and groundwater has waste permitting implications and is subject to waste management licensing (Environment Agency Remediation Position Statements).
The following technologies demonstrate the breadth of our remediation experience:
- Landfarming removes organic contaminants from the soil.
- Enhanced Biodegradation removes organic contaminants from groundwater.
- Soil Vapour Extraction removes mainly volatile contaminants from unsaturated soil.
- Air Stripping removes mainly volatile contaminants from groundwater.
- Stabilisation/Solidification immobilises heavy metals, radionuclides and insoluble organic compounds in soils.
- Chemical Oxidation destroys hazardous contaminants in groundwater.
